What this library counts
This registry indexes RCTs across the hirudotherapy science continuum: (1) direct medicinal-leech (Hirudo) therapy trials, and (2) trials of hirudin-derived and synthetic anticoagulants (e.g. lepirudin, bivalirudin, desirudin) that inform the underlying pharmacology. The second group is not evidence of live-leech-therapy efficacy. GRADE ratings reflect each individual trial's methodological quality — a high-GRADE anticoagulant-drug trial does not imply high-certainty evidence for leech therapy.
