Resumen

Case of prolonged bleeding following leech application for chronic pain treatment, discussing wound characteristics and management principles in the emergency setting.

Por qué esto importa para la hirudoterapia

This case report documents prolonged bleeding following the application of leeches for chronic pain treatment, discussing the characteristics of the resulting wounds, the possible complication of extended hemorrhage after medicinal leech application, and the principles of treatment. This is directly relevant to hirudotherapy safety, as prolonged bleeding is a complication that practitioners must be prepared to recognize and manage. However, as a single case report, it provides limited generalizable evidence regarding the incidence of bleeding complications, patient-specific risk factors, or optimal management protocols, and does not establish the frequency of this adverse event in broader clinical practice.
